How to Be Healthier in College

If you have been in college for a while you have noticed your jeans fitting a little different or something along those lines..... Right? Well you aren't the only one, many college students have gone through this struggle. In college, all you think about how you can satisfy your hunger after a long day of class and work. You think you don't have the time to cook a balanced meal but what if I told you were wrong.

1. Know what it means to be healthy

This may seem obvious at first but this is the very first step. I know before I came to school my mom cooked for me. I would come home from practice or school and have food all cooked for me. Unless if you kidnapped your mom and took her to school you don't have this luxurdy anymore. Here are some pointers on buying healthy foods.


  • You can never go wrong with fruits and vegies
  • Alway chose whole grain
  • Avoid sugar as much as possible
2. Budgeting

To be honest healthy food is more expensive than the food bad for you. But learning how to budget as a college kid will help you in the future as well. So start early

  • Determine amount of money you have to spend on food with the ability to have money to pay for other expenses
3. Living on Campus

Living on campus is not a good excuses for eating badly. Here are some tips on how to do the healthier option via dining halls

  • Head over to salad bars and load up on fruit and veggies
  • Skip dessert 
  • Pass up on extras they offer
  • Pay attention to how they're cooking the food
  • Go for the power food especially for breakfast
  • Have healthy snacks in your room
